Default 14 second PT question

How did you prep and prime your mud flaps when you painted them
Quote:
I took them off. Its a B#^*&^ to do but its better in the long run. you dont risk getting paint on the car.
I would like to paint mine but want to make sure it doesn't flack off. did you paint both sides.
Thanks

I would think to get em smooth, start with 180 grit wet/dry sandpaper, with lots of water..move to 360, then to 400, and then 600 grit. use a good quality (from an auto paint store) wax and grease remover..they'll need it if you've waxed around them or Armour All"d them. Then get the special plastic sealer/primer, and the color of choice. It'll be hard to keep them from not chipping on the surface facing the tire..so sand the hell out of em before you paint. Good luck, plastic pieces are kinda tricky.and there's no real gaurantee they won't ever flake.
