It has nothing to with with Mitsu or the 2.4 'world engine' in the Caliber, et al (which is not a "Hyundai engine", it was co developed by Chrysler/Hyundai/Mitsu). Linky
PTRich is correct. The 2.4 is the follow on engine to the 2.2. It is just as bullet proof as well. And as he stated the World Engine is co-developed by Chrysler and the others. I believe the only Mitsubishi engine is the 3 liter V6. My Dodge Spirit had one of those. Nice engine but the valve seals stunk. Blew a lot of smoke. The old 1.8L used in the Omni/Horizon was a volkswagon engine.

And if you read anywhere that the Hybrid system in the Durango is GM's system, that is a load as well. Chrysler co-developed that as well with GM and I believe BMW.
