No, it's being forced to run on regular and yeah, it does bother it a bit. The pcm is pulling timing and the engine knock is trying to be controlled. For the GT premium is recommended. It will run on regular, but that should only be in a pinch. You've got nowhere near the power you'd have if you used premium. Every time you enter the freeway, try to pass or just floor it you'd better pray all of the engine knock is being controlled and no damage is happening.
