Surely you gest! They couldn't get out from under rebates if they tried. Consumers won't let them. They'd just quit buying until the next round of better rebates were announced. The average age of vehicles on the road today is such that very few people actually NEED a new car. However, if the manufacturers want to give them away, we're listening. Really ticks off the arrogant German management as they were used to insane people actually anti-ing up for the snob appeal of their overpriced supposed luxury cars but such is the reality in the volume sector of the market. There's just TOO many vehicles vying for the consumer dollar. Now if you happen to want a Convertible PT, all bets on rebates are off at least until the initial pent up demand is satisfied.
The current 0% Lease Program looks interesting since you normally have to pay Interest on the Entire Value of the vehicle but only principal on the anticipated depreciation. With this deal, you're only paying on the depreciation. Unfortunately its only on a three year lease when depreciation is highest. If it were on a normal 4 year plan, the monthly payments could get seriously low and you have the "walk away" privilege before the warranty expires if the things a lemon.
