Final ( ? ) step in the Stock PT AMFMCD system-
Did the crossfire swap. If U do so, be sure to add extra 6" each end so U can be sure to feed the speakers from below, as there is a stamped groove in the body frame to let wiring thru easily.
I simply cut the ends off each female terminal and resoldered them to my leads that passsed over the top thru headliner.
Test sound before reinstalling permanently.
Final grade for the mods-
Sound quality increased at least 50% with the opening of the grilles in front doors.
The use of package shelf inverted to bounce rear speaker sound more to the front added another 25 or 20%.
The switch to crossfire was minor, perhaps another 10%.
Bottom line---------
Total cost to increase sound quality of stock system 80% or better was time only and some extra speaker wire I had laying around.
No bragging rights as to how many hp my new amp has or names of the new speakers, but it sure do sound Fiiiiiiiiine!
