This would allow positive air pressure at the intake and still allow for a quick and easy filter element change. The advantage yours has is that it isn't exposed to any direct water in wet weather so that is definitely not a problem. With ram air introduced to the stock air box I would hope the water would still drop to the bottom of the box as intended in the stock setup so that may not be a significant issue.

To change the filter just flip the 2 snaps losen the hose lift the top of the filter box do your thing & your done. There is no filtr in the cowel, only the stock filter in the box This hole set up can be changed back to stock in 1 min. That`s in clouding the plate to cover the hole in the fire wall.
