Don't give up on a good thing just because of some newfangled technology or slick advertising.
I still have 6 Crown mobile amplifiers that were built as prototypes in 1985 by Crown International, Elkhart Indiana. 600 watts, 6 channels, 21lbs!!!

You still do!!!, I used to install those. I saw one on ebay awhile back but lost the bid. I LOVED those amps!!!!

they were big "ugly" monsters (I thought they were beautiful). I won my 1st competion with one using a:
audiocontrol EQX
rockford fosgate midbass & tweeters
phase linear coax
2 pyle 12" subs in a box I tuned using a piece of tape on the dust cap with the letters A&B written on it & a oscillator (sp) (really old school trick)
Bachbusters was the Hot bass CD at the time.
I really turned heads when I fired that system up. OH yea it was in a piece of S_ _ T Chevy Citiation! with a Blaupunkt radio mounted vertical in the dash.
