I have Steel Blue paint, and have only a few dings on the hood after just over a year. I even have a rock chip about 1 cm above the rear wheel well. Must have been from another car passing that popped a rock? A lawn maintenance crew scratched the rear right above the mud flap. It's one of those 'good' scratches, though, in that it looks like it should be there. Go figure! Two of the would-be dings on my head are more like dent marks. I guess that's good if the rock can dent the metal but not chip the paint?
I'm planning on repainting my Steel Blue the new Tangerine color. I've had people tell me that you can tell a paint shop that you want a good thick coat of color, then a really thick clear coat to protect from dings. The new paint job is going to be a money-is-no-object improvement for me. (Not that I'm made of money, by any means.) It's just hard to get a GOOD paint job that even resists mosquito snot.
