Based on personal experience, that sounded reversed to me until I spoke with a colleague who had vast experience with audio equipment. He just indicated that the old Jensen 12" units I have at home happen to be of superior quality so they still sound REALLY sweet but generally 10" units would be less boomy.
My son finally managed to blow away the urethane surround on one of these 30 year old beauties. I took it in to have a new surround mounted. Upon pickup, the repair guy offered to buy the speaker from me along with its mate. Said it was one of the sweetest and tightest 12's he'd ever heard. Of course, the Jensen of today isn't the same company at all. Somebody just bought rights to the name and they're mediocre at best.
