I just recently had the factory originals (Goodyear 16 inch) tires replaced on my LE 2001. I got Michelin Destiny tires, at Discount Tires, for about $130 each. The Destiny tires come with a 80,000 mile warranty.

In the (extremely) short rainy season (all of last week!

) the tires had great grip in the rain. With the dry weather, the tires were noticably better at traction and give an improved feel for the road. I haven't done a long distance drive yet on them (only San Diego to Escondido, California, about 60 miles round trip) but there were no problems noted whatsoever. As soon as I get a true long distance drive, at least greater than 150 miles, I'll post another report. But they'll have to do well to beat the gas mileage I got with the Goodyears: 31 mpg (as verified at a AAA car fair.)
